_No matter what stage you may be in your business, you may arrive at a realisation point where you'll require further knowledge and guidance to help you along your chosen professional path.

For many business owners who have decided that they do want traditional help, the next question they could consider might be - what kind of help?

There are a plethora that can be found within a (family) business setting, from a peer/colleague, a coach, trainer, consultant. Each person has their unique and specific role to fill. My personal choice to gaining expert help and support however is from having a Mentor.

Having the right kind of Mentor by my side has enabled me to make better choices to steer the directions in my business. I feel blessed and extremely lucky as it was likened to writing my wishlist and having it materialised into reality.

Mentoring is one of the greatest 'open secrets' known to help an individual develop and realise their full ambitions. Some of the most successful and well-known entrepreneurs can credit having at least one Mentor in their professional career, to help catapult their initial ideas into £/$multi-million companies.

Entrepreneurs/Extraordinary individuals such as:

I.   Sir Richard Branson was mentored by Sir Freddie Laker (Aviation and other industries)
II.  Anthony Hopkins was mentored by Sir Laurence Olivier (Acting)
III. David Beckham was mentored by Sir Bobby Charlton (Football)
IV. Luke Skywalker was mentored by Obi Wan Kenobi (Stars Wars franchise)

Each of the above Mentees (or student) had at least one thing in common, a great vision that they wanted to make come true, and to find the right person to help them achieve this. As long as they followed the tailored guidance, it couldn't help but occur.

Overall it's a time when the Mentee should accept the help and implement it. Later down the road, the Mentee can “pay it back or forward”, to show their appreciation. In my experience, Mentoring also means and should include the following seven tips to be an holistic and highly viable exchange:

1.  Validation. From the Mentor to the Mentee.
2.  Confidence building. Aids better decision-making.
3.  Vision. Seeing a bigger picture to your own initial vision
4.  Networking Introductions. Quality introductions to dream contacts or into social/professional circles
5.  Acceptance. You are who you are. It's what you can become that is the exciting part.
6.  Future Joint Venture(s) or Strategic Collaborations. This tip speaks for itself.
7.  Finances. Increase in turnover and bottom-line profits
